Did you know today is National Ag Day? Less than 2% of our population produces the food we eat and we at Lakeshore Family Campground are thrilled to honor the incredible agricultural community surrounding us. Whether you're looking to learn about sustainable farming, discover fresh produce, or purchase delicious meats for your camping meals, we’ve got a list of some of our favorite nearby farms that are perfect for a visit while staying at LFC. Here’s your guide to celebrating National Ag Day anytime you visit LFC and supporting our local farmers!
Just a stone's throw from the campground, Bowers Farm holds a special place in our hearts—it’s owned and operated by the same folks who run Lakeshore Family Campground, Sarah and Brandon Bowers! This multi-species livestock farm is dedicated to producing top-notch meat while caring for the land and animals in a sustainable, ethical manner. If you’re staying with us at LFC, don’t miss the chance to schedule a tour at Bowers Farm to see their farming practices in action and explore what pastured meats are available for purchase.
Nestled right in our backyard, Gypsy Wind Farms is a wonderful family-run farm that focuses on sustainable practices. Known for their heritage breeds of sheep and pork, along with fresh, farm-raised eggs, it’s the perfect spot for a visit. Follow them on Facebook or check out their website to learn when their farm store is open during your stay, and get a taste of their delicious, locally produced goods.
Carolina Pride Pastures is an alpaca farm you won’t want to miss! With a variety of animals including alpacas, chickens, ducks, and llamas, this farm offers fun, educational experiences for visitors of all ages. Their tours provide fascinating insights into the world of alpacas, and you can even purchase alpaca fleece or their signature alpaca fertilizer. Be sure to check out their website to book a tour during your stay at Lakeshore Family Campground!
A little further from the campground but absolutely worth the drive, WildeRose Farm is a charming small family farm located just outside Winnsboro. On their 11-acre property, they raise pastured pork, chicken, and eggs, and they also keep honeybees to produce delicious raw honey. You can visit the farm directly or find their products at various local farmers markets—be sure to stop by and taste the difference that fresh, local products make!
No trip to the countryside would be complete without a stop at a local winery! Enoree River Winery, located in Newberry, offers a wonderful selection of wines made from South Carolina-grown grapes. Stop by for a tasting, or grab a bottle (or two) to enjoy around the campfire during your stay at Lakeshore. Pair your wine with local meats and cheeses for the perfect charcuterie board under the stars. It’s a great way to relax and appreciate the flavors of the region!
