On February 1, 2024, we opened the metaphorical gates to Lakeshore Family Campground (LFC) with excitement, anticipation, and a shared dream of creating a special place for families to connect with nature, make memories, and unwind. One year later, as we look back on all we’ve accomplished, we are filled with gratitude, pride, and awe at how far we’ve come.
In our first year, we’ve had the privilege of hosting around 120 different guests who stayed with us for a total of approximately 850 nights. Each visit, each campfire, and each family moment shared in the beauty of our campground has been a reminder of why we bought LFC in the first place. From quiet weekends to the vibrant energy of holiday weeks, every guest has helped shape the story of LFC.
We were fortunate to have three families choose to reserve the entire campground for their special events. It was an honor to provide a space where families could come together, whether it was for a reunion, a retreat, or a 4th of July celebration. These moments have been incredibly meaningful for us, and we love knowing that our campground has been a part of so many important life events.
A special highlight of our first year was our ribbon-cutting ceremony in May 2024, just before our first sold-out Memorial Day weekend. That weekend marked the beginning of what we hope will be many successful seasons of welcoming guests to LFC. The energy and excitement in the air as we celebrated the start of a busy season was unforgettable, and we’ve been riding that wave of positivity ever since.
Of course, no first year is without its challenges. We’ve had our share of setbacks, including a lightning strike that affected our facilities during the July 4th holiday week. And then the summer of 2024 also brought us Hurricane Helene in September, which tested our preparedness and resilience. But as with most challenges, we lived and we learned.
Through the ups and downs, we’ve learned a lot and grown in ways we never expected. We’ve learned that Lakeshore Family Campground isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. What we have here is something truly special: a peaceful quiet atmosphere surrounded by nature. We are not the largest or the most commercial campground, and we don’t try to be. What we offer is an escape from the everyday hustle, where families can unplug, reconnect, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. For those who have given us a try, we are beyond grateful and honored to share this unique experience with you.
One of the most humbling parts of this journey has been the overwhelming support from the surrounding community. Whether it's the kind words from residents, the support from local business owners, or the partnership with the Fairfield County Chamber, we have felt the embrace of Blair and Fairfield County every step of the way. It’s the people around us who have helped make this dream a reality, and we are truly thankful for the warm welcome and encouragement we’ve received.
As we close out our first year and look ahead to 2025, we can’t help but feel excited about what the future holds. This year has been one of growth, learning, and deep connection with the people who matter most: our guests, our community, and each other. We’re ready for another year of beautiful memories, new experiences, and even more opportunities to serve you.
